Warning: This post is a little gross

Our little Rachel can be fiercely independent. "Don't need help!" "Don't help me!" "I do it!" are all common phrases around here. But sometimes she starts something and realizes midway through that some help might be a good thing. This happened the other day.

On Saturday, there was a craft show at the girls' school, and Steve's mom had a booth in it. I was sitting at the booth with Steve's mom and Elijah, while the girls were busy playing in the kindergarten classroom. I guess while they were playing, Rachel had to poop, but rather than ask for help from Naomi or Petra or come to find me, she just went off on her own. The boys' bathroom is right next to the kindergarten classroom, so that's where she went. She managed to poop, but had some problems getting off of the toilet in a clean fashion, and didn't do so well with her wiping job. She tried to clean up the mess on the seat with some toilet paper, but things just got worse. Finally, she realized that yes, she could use a little help and came to find me. I looked up and saw Rachel at the top of the stairs to the gym, with nothing on her bottom half - no pants, underwear, socks or shoes! I jumped up, grabbed her, and carried her to the girls' washroom, expecting to find her stuff. I got the diaper bag, cleaned her up, put some fresh clothes on her, and asked her where her stuff was. "In the other room," she answered. I thought she meant the classroom, but she led me to the boys' room, where I found the dirty toilet, dirty floor, dirty toilet paper on the floor. I got some wet paper towels and started cleaning up. I got the clean up finished, and was washing my hands at the sink (in the boys' room), when a man (that I didn't know) came in. I tried to explain what I was doing with my daughter in the boys' room, but I don't think he wanted to hear my whole story... I just grabbed Rachel and walked out, laughing to myself. Really, what else could I do?

Hahahahaha! Better you than me, that's for sure! I probably would have rounded up Dave for that one! So next step in Rachel's education is the universal bathroom signs!
